They scam you. They add extra fees that are not noticed till a lot of careful review. They even add interest to some days twice. I paid a lot in BS. I am looking into these class action lawsuites I heard about them

Money hungry. Worst experience in my life. You pay at least 3x's more by time you pay the car off

We have been paying for a travel trailer for the past 10 years...... they have received ALL of the purchase price plus SUBSTANTIAL INTEREST. Current balance is $16,200........ As the travel trailer is a lousy trailer - the manufacturer has gone out of business... and we have come upon financial and health issues...... we sold funeral plots and offered them $14,000 to pay off the trailer..... this would have in affect paid them $46,375 for a travel trailer that was less than $30,000......... MORE THAN ENOUGH...... We went through telephone calls, emails, etc. and they finally told us to make a formal written request. We did so and never heard back....... We finally contacted them again and they said "it is company policy that we do not negotiate pay-off amounts." We said - so you would rather pick up a travel trailer that is worth less than $1,000 - have it fall apart in transit - NOT receive a total of $46,375 (with the pay-off amount we are willing to pay you) and get nothing because you are forcing us into bankruptcy (and we will use our $14,000 NOW to pay on something else - to someone else) and you will not get any of it? Their answer: SORRY......... It is not like we were asking them to negotiate anything more than about $2200 off the balance of the loan. We have 5 years left to pay on the loan..... The only difference for them TODAY is $2200.......... THIS COMPANY IS CROOKED - AS MANY PEOPLE HAVE STATED......... I will ensure that horrible reviews are blasted ALL over the internet, Facebook, and any other portal that I can possibly find. I hope they enjoy this piece of junk as they pick up the pieces of it as it falls apart on it's way to Dallas....... you can't squeeze blood from a turnip...... and we have nothing else to give...... no savings, nothing............ cancer has wiped out most everything.... and here we are trying to do our part...... SHAME ON SANTANDER CONSUMER USA.

I financed a car through Santander USA and honestly it's a good place to start if you have bad credit, need a car, and plan on refinancing the car within a few months to a year after buying it. I can not stress enough however, DO NOT STAY WITH THIS LENDER LONG TERM. They do not allow you to pay on the principal of the vehicle, only on the interest which, is far too high for you to ever actually pay off the car. I have never missed a payment or been late making a payment in almost a year and I still owe almost the entire value of the car. The amount of interest I have to pay on this car is almost as much as the amount I owe on the car. I bought my car for 10,000, I'm paying about 7,000 in interest. Though, I have never made a late payment I have read enough horror stories to make even the most financial savvy person forgo buying groceries for the month just to make the car payment.

Hi I pay 745 a month at 19 percent intrest but when I get my bill I pay almost $600 a month in intrest only $150 towards principal I don't understand they just give me bs never a straight answer I'm very disturbed with santander

SHADY, DO NOT TRUST. I have had an auto loan with them for the past 15 months and in the $3800+ I have paid them they applied $2200 to INTEREST, and $1600 to the principal so my principal balance doesnt decrease at the rate it should..... I tried to call and resolve but the reps and managers only make excuses and say what they are doing is not illegal. DO NOT TAKE A LOAN WITH THEM. They also refuse to re-finance the loan and say they do not refinance their loans. and I have been building up credit so I could refinance. so at a 19% interest rate where do they think its ok to put $2200 to interest and $1600 to principal (rounded numbers) I am paying more than the normal required balance and making regular payments on time. This is 100% completely unsatifactory.

Good afternoon, I have never bought a car to start. The dealership ran my credit with a fici score of 650 through 10 places and because I have never had a car loan I was denied each time. The last option was this bank. I got the car I wanted at a interest rate that is a little high but resonable to me. I say this because if I was a lender and the person before me hand not established a clear history of credit or owned a previous car I would not help. Today I walked out with the car I wanted. I look at the positives because I know that paying this loan off will increase my chances later on if I ever want a new car and that is a given once the life of my car comes to an end. We may not always get what we want and sometimes you pay the cost to be the boss but the benefits gain and the end result is always the same better options the next go round. Be positive in the knowledge a company financed you when you had no other option. Reflex on why that is and take that blessing as a lesson learned preparing for the next time you purchase a car.

I had a car loan that was bought by Santander USA. I had not problems with their customer service department. Was I late with payments? Yes! Did they call me in regards to the late payments? Yes! Did they always try to help me find a solution to the problems? You bet! In the remaining years of my loan, I must say hat I never spoke with anyone who was rude or inconsiderate. Never! They were always nice and considerate even when they were not able to meet my request!

I had a car loan with Santander for almost 3 years. When I decided to switch for a lease and the loan balance was paid off I couldn't use the website to make a stop the automatic monthly payments from my checking account. Unfortunately they drafted one more monthly amount of $325 and when I called them they told me a prepaid visa card will be mailed with that amount in a month. I spend several minutes arguing asking for a check and finally they told me they will. A week after another person called me telling me that is impossible to send a check but that I will be able to get cash from that prepaid card. When I received the prepaid card the instructions said very clear that THIS CARD DOES NOT HAVE ATM CASH ACCESS So beside the incredible high interest I was paying with that loan ( I decided to lease a car so I get rid of that loan) they want to keep my money for longer time and keep earning fees everytime I use this prepaid car because they will charge it to every business I buy from!!

I work in finance and understand how simple interest calculations work. I am shocked to see some of the reviews that I am seeing on here. Many of these reviews start out with...well I was only 15 days behind...or....I lost my job and.....or.....I became sick and could not make my payments.... REALLY? What would any creditor do when a loan is late?? For those who state they hate the high interest rates...ummmmm did you read the contract BEFORE you signed it? Probably not because you were too in love with the new car smell. Listen....if you had to get financed through Santander then you obviously had credit issues. In fact you are lucky someone out there would actually trust you with a loan. Wake up everyone.....loans being given to credit worthy borrowers are risky let alone someone that has multiple repossessions or super low credit scores. The bank is NOT going to just give you 3.9%!! You are the credit risk....not the bank. Let's stop whining about high rates and phone calls when you don't make your payment and learn what credit is all about. When I was down Santander helped me when no one else would. Was the rate high? Yes! But....did I get a new car that was safe and reliable? Yes!! Credit works like an old girlfriend. How many times can you break the trust factor and still go out with her? People...take some responsibility. If you don't like risky car finance companies then clean up your credit and go to your local bank. Otherwise....I will see you in traffic just like the other millions of Americans that needed a second chance. Good luck and wake up....

I was desperate for a car. Hunday on rt 22 sold me a used car. They scam Santander they sold me a 2014 Hyndai sonata and the interest rate is sky high. I pay 379.00 for a used car and only 15. dollars is being applied to the loan everything else is interest. I have to find a way to get rid of them. DON"T use them they are a bunch of crooks!!!!!!

they charge $5 a day for finance and interest which is illegal, you already have a contract that says that you should only pay 5% or $50 if your payment is late but they are making $20000 in illegal finance charges and interest plus other miscellaneous fees they create which add up another $10000 ($30000 in finance chgs) for a vehicle that only costs $20000, they steal in front of you, they want you to pay $50000 for a vehicle that was not worth $20000, wish dept of justice, attorney general and legal Aid of North West Texas get them out of business and close their doors, they are stealing from many people every where.

Santander gave me a loan when only a few others would accept me, and they actually gave me the better interest rate of 18% which is still high but in my situation is not much else to expect. of course I don't buy a very expensive cars like everybody else seems to but they can't afford. I took less than the amount they offered and got a nice car and if you're behind in your payments any companies going to call and look for their money

I have paid 15 months on the car loan and $4,000 has been applied to interest and only $1,000 to the principle. I thought the lower the car balance the less interest I should pay. Santander is a scam and I would never get a loan with them again. Currently filing a lawsuit against them.

I have just signed a car loan note with Santander and I thank god that there are some banks like these around. Even with a Great Crediable Co-Signer I couldnt get Financed Threw anyplace but this one. I understand and have read alot of the negative reviews as a person that deals in finances daily. The Customer Service may not be highly great but in saying this, When you have a company that deals With high high risk loans like these guys do, you cant allow late payments or derferments, They are here helping all of us get reestablished and giving us all a second chance or in some cases 3rd or 4th chance to correct our credit. Would you if it were your company that deals in high risk loans wanna be the one getting a phone call saying i am sorry i cant pay you this month even though you took a chance on me sorry, doesnt seem right. I by all means knows what it is like to be in a bad situation Financially and know what it is like to struggle, But something to remember when choosing to not make your payment at all or on time, you just dissed the one company that had enough decency to give you one more chance...Keep that in mind all when making complaints about being harrassed for your payment or being harressed about making even a partial payment. These guys could have been like all the rest of the banks and also said NO to us............

I had my vehicle loan serviced by Santander since July 2011 and paid off the loan last month of March 2016 on a 60 month note. I had a terrible experience with them and if you could give a negative rating, I would have. They do not refinance and because they are sub-prime lender, you will likely have a difficult time getting any vehicle refinanced with a third party. That would you are stuck with them until the end. After a $504 monthly payment for the last 18 months of the loan before payoff, they sent the notice of zero balance and title to the co-signatory's address who NEVER paid on the loan! Was going to surprise the wife for Easter with the notice, but they somehow "do not have record" of the primary borrower's address? Interesting how that is after I sent payment with my address posted on both the front of the envelope and the money order for 18 months! They are unprofessional and full of crap. Not only will I never use Santander Consumer USA ever again by I highly recommend others stay far away from this predatory and screwy lender. Not worth the stress.

I'm giving Santander 5 stars based on the fact that they gave me a loan when nobody else would and I've had zero problems with dealing with them. In saying that, I have to knock them because I'm paying a 25% interest rate and even nearly 2 years into my loan and making $425 payments, the interest for this past month was $278, so only $140 is going towards my principal and like someone else said how they feel trapped, that's how I feel. My principal is currently higher than the cars value and I've been paying on it since July 2014 so ibcant currently refinance it. The reason why I still gave Santander 5 stars is because I DID know what my interest rate was going in, its not like it's a surprise, but I guess I didn't realize just how much that is, I can't knock them for that, they've been holding up their end of the deal.

I got a loan from this bank I haven't gotten their paper work but what I understand is you can make "principal "payment to the account this would help the interest go down when the interest is down your payment is still same but more money goes to principals( that how much you own for car) not the interest ..idk if some you guys are inform about paying different payment for principal besides you monthly payment am going to do it am going to keep records n keep you guys up date it if this bank is making fraud I my self going to find every one that has been or still is a victim. My only issue is that my interest rate is high, but i can't blame them. I consider myself blessed that they took a chance with me and financed a $45000 car for me. With that being said, i am in the midst of finding someone else to refi my car to lower my car payment and interest rate. I haven't had any issues with them. Kinda surprised at the reviews.

I thought it was normal practice to help out their customers during the holidays. Nope! My deferment offer was apparently denied, even though I never REQUESTED it! It screwed my credit, too!

The interest Santander charges is ridiculous! I have been paying them for over two years and still my loan amount is incredibly high. I feel trapped with no way out. I am planning on refinancing soon because I really can't take paying SO much every month and having only a small portion of it go to principle.

I had my auto loan through Santander. I had questionable credit, but they were still able to offer me a decent rate on a loan. Unfortunately, life sometimes hapens and I lost my job and I couldnt afford my car payments for a while. Every time I called their customer service team, they were able to help me make a small payment or other payment options - even when I was 3 months behind! They are a great company that will always work with you!

After various attempts to get past the automated robot, my wife encountered a rude customer service rep. This rep was so horrible to the point where my wife got so frustrated and began tearing up. These people have honestly no problem harassing you if you are slightly late on one payment. I needed to pay a week after the due date when something else came up, and they literally called me twenty times in one day. No exaggeration. What company harasses their paying customers like that??
